Three steps to switch a Terrashroom TS‑01 over to AutoMyco. The iPhone app is the easiest way. No iPhone? Use Chrome on a computer.
With the iPhone app
- Get the AutoMyco iPhone app. It's free on the App Store. It's almost on the App Store. Until then, ask for early access: Apple emails you an invite to try it in its TestFlight app.
- Plug in your chamber and keep your phone within a few metres of it, with Bluetooth on.
-
Follow the app.
- Tap Install on a new chamber.
- Sign in with your email. You get a code; there's no password.
- Hold the button on the back of the chamber for about 3 seconds, then let go.
- Pick your chamber, tap Install, then tap again to confirm. It takes about 5 minutes. Keep the app open.
- The chamber restarts and goes back on your Wi-Fi by itself. Tap Find It on Wi-Fi.
After that
- Start growing
- On the Grow tab, pick what you're growing and tap Start Grow. That also switches the chamber's climate control on.
- Not on your Wi-Fi?
- In the app, tap Set up Wi-Fi on a chamber. When it asks, press the button on the back once, briefly. Don't hold it: a 5-second hold starts the self-test. It works within 30 minutes of plugging the chamber in; after that, unplug it for 10 seconds first. 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
- The camera (optional)
- Settings, then Advanced Settings, then Install Camera Firmware. It takes 2 to 10 minutes, with no cables.
- Updates
- The chamber checks automyco.com for new versions. When one is ready, go to Settings, then Update firmware, and tap Update. During a grow it asks you first.
- Your automyco.com account
- The email you signed in with. It's for firmware downloads and, if you want them, update emails. Remote access and cloud history are being tried on a few chambers first, and aren't open to everyone yet.
No iPhone? Use Chrome on a computer
What you need
- Chrome or Edge on a computer with Bluetooth switched on (Windows, Mac or Chromebook). Chrome on an Android phone works too.
- Your email address, for a sign-in code.
- The chamber plugged in, within a few metres. No cable, and nothing to open up.
Steps
- Open the Bluetooth install and sign in with your email. Tick the box to accept the terms.
- Hold the button on the back of the chamber for about 3 seconds, then let go. It stays findable for 5 minutes.
- Click Find my chamber, pick it from the list, then click Install AutoMyco. Keep the page open and the chamber plugged in for about 5 minutes.
- The chamber restarts and rejoins the Wi-Fi it already knew. Not on Wi-Fi after a couple of minutes? Open improv-wifi.com in Chrome, pick the chamber, press the button on the back once, briefly, when it asks, then enter your Wi-Fi.
Bluetooth install, or the wired install with a backup.
Bluetooth not working, or want a backup first?
The wired install saves a full backup of the stock firmware, then installs AutoMyco and sends your Wi-Fi over the same cable. It means opening the chamber and wiring a 3.3 V USB-serial adapter (about $10) to the 7-pin header on the circuit board, from Chrome or Edge on a computer.
- Unplug the chamber from the wall before you connect or disconnect any wire. Plug it back in only once the wires are on.
- Ground wire first. Connect the adapter's GND wire before the others, and take it off last.
- Leave the adapter's power pin (VCC) unconnected, and set the adapter to 3.3 V.
Unplug the UV-C lamp (UVC1) from the board first. UV-C light damages eyes, and nobody has measured yet what the lamp does while the chip is in download mode.
